Welcome to The byline

I’m not going to lie, I feel like Taylor freaking Swift right now welcoming you all to The Eras Tour. As I embrace my reality as a self-employed creator, business owner, and lover of fun, I am now entering a new era of @bitesbrewsandbooze: long-form content. More importantly, content to live directly on my own website, for you. So let’s get into it:

what is the byline?

You will find posts here about how I actually plan a staycation on a tight deadline, how I decide whether a brand is worth saying yes to, and just as importantly, how I decide when to walk away. You will be able to decipher the exact type of bride that I am, and both how and why I planned my engagement for 2 years. You will understand how quickly I learned the importance of shrinking my circle, and how keeping the right people around you is just as important to your success. This is a space where I take you behind the content, my visions, my dreams, and more, beyond just what I naturally post on my social media channels.

A byline, if you are not familiar with the term, is the line under an article that tells you who wrote it. I chose this name for one, because it begins with the letter B, as many things in life do, and second, because that is exactly what I want it to be: a glimpse into who is actually writing this content. My actual thinking, my actual process, the person behind the platform.

How This Is Different From The Boop

Great question, I have also been pondering this myself. The Boop is where I show up in real time. It is closer to a running conversation, the trips, the finds, the day to day of building this brand out loud, and unapologetically.

The Byline is slower, and more intentional. These are not quick updates, but rather curated details made just for you, the reader to deeply resonate. They are the posts I sit with for a while before I write them, the ones that require some distance from the moment to actually say something useful about it. Think of The Boop as what I am doing, and The Byline as the why and how I am doing it.

I also want this to be a place that stands on its own, not just for the people who already follow along on social. Alternatively, I want this to also be a space to connect with me outside of my social channels. For those who are detoxing from constant scrolling, those who miss newspapers and are likely still subscribed to Vogue. It’s extra as hell, and I want you to read all about it.

Why This Matters to Me

In case you can’t tell, it really does. I built my brand 5 years ago on a simple idea, that exploring life through a colorful and joy-seeking lens makes everything better, wherever you are. I believe the same thing is true about the business side of my work. As influencing and content creation rises in popularity for mainstream consumers, there is so much of this industry that stays hidden, both in positive and negative lights.

My goal for this new piece of my brand is for readers to walk away with something they can actually use, as well as a few laughs. I want brands to read this and understand how I think, not just what I have done. And I want the people who have followed along with me for a while to see a fuller picture of who is actually behind the platform.

This is not a top-performing highlight reel I made in an hour. It is going to be dignified, valuable, and most importantly, fun. Because isn’t that the whole point?

One quick housekeeping note: I pulled this list over from The Boop on Substack, so if The Byline is not your cup of tea (or wine, no judgment here), you are always free to unsubscribe below, no hard feelings, no questions asked. But if you stick around, I promise it will be worth it.

Cheers to a new chapter of BBB!
